Who Do you think you are by Saint Etienne (Aphex Twin remix)

And while on extreme remixes, Saint Etienne were cool enough to get some of the best electronica acts to remix them, like the wonderful Aphex Twin.

Go on, listen to the original track and then compare.

Both wonderful.

Like a Motorway by St Etienne (Skin up, you’re already dead remix by Autechre)

So, been having a chat about St Etienne with a mate on Facebook, and he reminds me of this wonderful remix.

May I suggest you check out the original song and then listen to this.

I do love my radical remixes.

But Blood by Hockeysmith

May have just found my new favourite band of the year.

The vibe for me is late 80’s noise merchants.

Traces of Curve, Cranes and Grimes.

Very Goth disco

Hi Five by Angel Olsen

Been waiting for this album and it does deliver

Lies (Ikonika remix) by Chvrches

How did I not know of this?  Awesome 80’s retro vibe from Ikonika applied to this great track

Subsequently Lost by Polly Scattergood

Rejoice!  New Polly Scattergood video and single.

Divisionary (Do The Right Thing) by Ages and Ages

Quiet night in the lab, not doing much and then I hear this and feel good.

Excellent tune, do the right thing and give it a play.

Britta Phillips & Dean Wareham - Knives from Bavaria

On a huge pile of painkillers tonight, long story short - bad back pain.

I hate strong painkillers, they mess with my head.  Years ago I created a sonic prescription to replace the pills, something to help me through the physical pain without going through the mental pain the tablets give me.

This is one of the songs off that prescription, along with the wonderful Sonic Boom remix which I really recommend checking out.

They gave me somewhere to go when the pain got bad.

Angel Haze featuring Sia Furler - Battle Cry

I totally knew this was Sia on this track before I even checked the facts.

Angel Haze is doing great stuff with rap and teaming up with Sia for a track is genius, cos Sia is totally the best female vocalist/lyricist at the moment, and Angel Haze is just the person to kick start rap out of it’s lethargy.

Stranger Than Kindness by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds

Is it strange that possibly my favourite Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds wasn’t even written by Nick Cave?

Lyrics by Anita Lane and music by Blixa Bargeld, this is one of the most haunting tunes I’ve heard.
